Membership Information
Ottawa's Lac Deschênes Sailing Club is like going to the cottage for the day, right in the middle of the city. Look downriver and you'll see skyscrapers. Look upriver and take in the Gatineau Hills. You choose which way you want to go. (Okay, the wind might have some impact, but you get the idea!)
Registration for the 2026 sailing season is open for both new and returning members. The deadline for returning members is March 31, 2026 after which a late fee of $115.00 will apply. Our membership rates are still low at $563.59 + taxes for a full family membership and a steal if you are 30 years old or less at $214.41 + taxes.

Cooperative Commitment
The spirit, essence and history of LDSC is rooted in community and commitment. The day-to-day operations and its member services depend almost entirely upon members' volunteer efforts. Dock construction and maintenance, racing and training programs, social and special events, communications, publicity, membership, and routine administration are some of the many tasks performed by the members. By joining LDSC, you are committing to the spirit of a cooperative environment and to volunteer a bit of your time to help perform work duties as outlined in the membership form.
- Voting: All members in good standing, aged 18 years of age and older, are entitled to vote at Club General Meetings and are eligible to be elected to the Board of Directors.
- Volunteering: All members are expected to volunteer time towards the maintenance and operation of the club, unless the volunteer opt-out fee is paid ($255.98).
- Space allocation for boats: Refers to wet or dry mooring, during the sailing season only, for one of the following: monohull sailboat, catamaran sailboat, keelboat (and dinghy), boardsail, canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Members may apply for space allocation for a second boat, if space permits.
- Initiation fees: A fee of $120.00 must be paid each of the first two years of Full privilege membership, even if the member previously held Young Adult or Crew level privileges.
- Pleasure Craft Operators Card: All members aged 18 years of age and older are expected to hold a valid Pleasure Craft Operators Card before participating in any on-the-water activities.
