Social activities

Social activities begin before the dock goes in and continue until after close-up. A typical season might include events such as a dessert barbecue, moonlight sail, pot luck supper, new members barbecue, sleepover for the children and pancake breakfast, and, always, the annual banquet and awards night in November.

Racing program

For 40 years, sailors young and old have been chasing each other around the buoys on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons,

enthusiastic participants in the Club's comprehensive racing program. There are those who were young then and now are old but they still continue to compete with the same eagerness. Be warned. Racing is addictive as well as being a surefire way of developing sailing and boat-handling skills. In addition, the Club usually hosts at least one Regatta during the season.

Club boats

The club boat program allows members to sail several different classes of boats without the capital cost of buying a boat.  Lac Deschenes Sailing Club owns twelve sailboats.  These club boats are two Optimists, four Lasers, three OpenBics, a Wayfarer, a Hobie 18 and a Hobie Wave.  Two of the lasers are rigged with a radial sail and two are rigged with regular laser sails.   Club Boat Members have access to these boats throughout the season.  They can cruise or race with them as an owner would.  In addition to club boat access fees, Club Boat  Members are required to do the work needed to store and maintain the boats but LDSC pays for any parts or materials required.  LDSC Club Boat Membership is a great way to start sailing or to expand your sailing experience.   For program details see the attachments below:
